I'm in a very similar predicament. I have an issue with width and parking so I am looking at the FJR and the K1200GT.

Do your research and you will find many complaints on the Honda ST as having a heat problem. I live in Southern CA so this is a big consideration.

On BMW I prefer the Gt over the RT as the GT has an inline 4 where as the RT is a boxer and not as smooth. Both have great power and amenities. The RT has a greater range. Both very comfortable. Take you MC license to a dealer and ask for a test ride. Most BMW dealerships will not have problem with this. Also while getting used to the Gt you may catch your shins a few times when you go to plant your feet. As for the F800ST If your riding more than 30 min your left calf will get hot. I have tested all of these. None of these bikes dip while breaking hard due to the cantilever suspension.

This leaves me with FJR which I have not had an opportunity to ride yet. I understand that the AE can be difficult to control at slower speeds but nothing but good reviews on the A

Cool post! We are not even off first base as regards understanding the nature of the universe. As equally intriguing is what they are finding as they look down into the sub-atomic world and find that at the middle of the sub-atomic particles there is nothing hard at all! Hmmm.

haha, new car + slow sheep = lamb burgers for everybody!

I was reading an article today comparing the BMW K1200GT and the Yama FJR 1300. He said even tho he doesn't anticipate needing that 6th gear, he'd rather have it and not need it than the alternative.

p.s. a guy in tri-shitties is trying to sell his 05 FJR for $7200. but the left side is smashed up.

I would think the six speed would be impractical for most driving. Wouldn't it just leave most drivers frustrated because they never use 6th? We have no autobahn you know. Unless you count Montana, but there you risk running into a sheep at 120 mph. Not good for the new signature grill.

You're right, this one isn't all that impressive. However, he's done other things that, to me, are impressive. Unfortunately, it's been tough to find good videos of some of his better tricks.

Yes, it deals with music rights. It actually stands for Digital Rights Management. Ultmately what it does is locks down the song that you buy online to a particular vendor and, therefore media player. So, when you buy a song from iTunes, they use an mp4 format which is encoded as an AAC file. This is only playable through an iPod at this tiime. Just like a WMA file is playable only on a Windows-compatible device.

Removing DRM would allow users to buy a song through any online outlet and play it on any device. There are inherant concerns for the big players, of course. For example, Apple makes something like $.15 on each $.99 song. The rest of it goes to royalties and to the record label. So, Apple doesn't make much money on music. Rather, most of their profit is from the sale of their iPods. -Which is the key. Since they have DRM and format locked down to their iPod/iTunes, they have a pretty good deal going. So, I'm not quite sure where the profit would be.

Steve Jobs is a brilliant businessman, so I'd be interested to see the whole picture. You know he's not going to suggest something like this if there isn't a major advantage for his company.

It will be interesting to see how all of this unfolds.
